Ode to MJ

I was so saddened by the death of Michael Jackson. He was such an iconic addition to music and one of my all time favorites. I can credit my early love of music to him. I used to refer to him as Jichael Mackson. I made up a dance to Man in the Mirror; I tried to learn all the moves to Beat It; I got into big trouble for changing the words from Dirty Diana to Dirty Dushaun and serenading a kid on the playground. I feel very sad that such a talented man met such an unhappy fate. I will most definitely pray for his family.
Now on with some of my most favorite things...
  • Hungry Howie's Pizza: If you haven't eaten it, you are missing out. It is amazing. It's so good and it's cheap - two of my favorite things ever!! Flavored crusts, yummy cinnamon bread. Fat people delight! hungryhowies.com
  • The Historian: I just finished this book and it's great. If you hate the vampire trend, do not read it. But, if you love bloodsuckers and historical fiction, read it! Vlad the Impaler dominates the pages. It scared me so much that I had to sleep with the lights on.
  • Harper's Island: Maybe the dumbest show on television but also a guilty pleasure. People are decapitated and blown up. And there are some really cheesy one liners. However, it is dramatic and makes me worry about what will happen next week. CBS on Saturdays at 9p.
  • TrueBlood: Blood, gratuitous sex scenes, vamps and shapeshifters. Southern drama at it's best. Curt and I looove it. HBO on Sundays at 9p.
  • FMYLIFE.com: You think your life sucks, I can promise you someone has had it much, much worse.

My current playlist:

  • Blood Bank by Bon Iver: That secret that we know that we don't know how to tell. I'm in love with your honor, I'm in love with your cheeks. What's that noise up the stairs babe? Is that Christmas morning creaks?
  • Hospital Beds by Florence and the Machine: Put out the fire boys, don't stop. Bring your buckets by the dozen, bring your nieces and your cousins.
  • Beggin' by Madcon: A broken man but I don't know - won't even stand the devil's chance to win my soul.
  • Eet by Regina Spektor: It's like forgetting the words to your favorite song. You can't believe it, you were always singing along. It was so easy and the words so sweet. You can't remember - you try to feel the beat.
  • Sunrise by Ryan Bingham: I'm taking my chances, I'm taking my sins. Throwing em down the hill and watch come around again.
  • Candle by The White Tie Affair: I'm so tired of being sick and tired.

Current favorites

When I suggest music, I suggest that you get on iTunes and download it ASAP. I have decided to blog about stuff that I love and music is at the top of my list. Here are some songs that I am listening to on repeat.

1. Feel This by Bethany Joy Galeotti "What if I told you that your tears weren't ignored and that everything that was taken can be restored?"

2. That's Not My Name by The Ting Tings "But with nothing to consider they forget my name..."

3. Brick (a capella) by The Ohio University Leading Tones (awesome version of an old favorite.) "She's a brick and I'm drowning slowly."

4. Good Girls Go Bad by Cobra Starship featuring Leighton Meester "Let me shake up your world cause just one night couldn't be so wrong."

5. Whatever It Is by Ben Lee "Just do it - whatever it is."

6. Your Rocky Spine by The Great Lake Swimmers "They told me to be careful up there where the wind rages through your hair."

7. We're on Fire by the Northern Room "Her body moves like a river but her fingers taste like fire. She holds the hand of the devil and thinks she's free."

8. She is Love by Parachute "And when the world slows down, dear, and the stars burn out here, she'll be there."

9. Can't Have it All by Jay Brannan "Do you want a lover or do you want a life? One end or the other, the butter or the bread knife? Do you choose winter, spring, summer or fall? It's driving me crazy that I can't have it all."

10. On Your Porch by The Format "What's left to lose? You've done enough. And if you fail, then you fail but not to us. Cause these last three years, I know they've been hard. But now it's time to get out of the desert and into the sun, even if it's alone."

11. The First Taste by Fiona Apple " I do not struggle in your web because it was my aim to be caught. But, daddy long legs I feel I've finally grown weary of waiting to be consumed by you."
